Edwards Arrives to Strengthen Pride
Pride are delighted to welcome American guard Taylor Edwards to the family, adding much needed experience to our young team.
Hailing from Portsmouth, Virginia, Edwards attended Woodrow Wilson High School, where she was named to the 4A All-State Second Team as a junior and to the First Team as a senior. Edwards then attended Old Dominion University in NCAA Division 1, where she became the Monarchs’ primary point guard as a junior, before going on to average 12 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists per game as a senior.
After graduating from Old Dominion, Taylor started her pro career in Sweden with Mark Basket Marbo Kinna in the 20/21 season, however her stay Sweden was cut short by the Covid-19 affected season there. She is now ready to make her mark in the WBBL with Pride.
Pride head coach Bart Sengers commented on his new signing, saying: “With Taylor we are bringing in an experienced point guard that suits the style of our team very well. She is very quick and likes to pass the ball. For those reasons I expect our transition offense to improve. She will also be a good perimeter defender and I am looking forward to working with her. She has been waiting on an opportunity like this and we are very happy to provide it for her.”
Edwards is scheduled to make her Pride debut this weekend at home against the Sevenoaks Suns.
