BA London Lions v Caledonia Pride

Caledonia Pride’s busy 2020 continues as they travel south to the nation’s capital this weekend, facing BA London Lions in the WBBL.

Pride will be looking to pick up some momentum heading into this game following double-header losses to Leicester Riders and Newcastle Eagles last weekend.

London currently sit bottom of the WBBL Championship table, having not picked up a win so far this season.

Lions’ roster includes the likes of Portuguese power forward Lavinia Da Silva and Bulgarian standout Viktoria Ivanova.

The duo fulfilled international duties for their respective home countries in 2019. Da Silva donned her national team colours in the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2021 Qualifiers whilst Ivanova led her country to a gold medal at the FIBA U20 Women’s European Championships Division B.

The pair have also proven to be London’s most effective offensive threats with Ivanova averaging 14.8 points per game followed by Da Silva on 12.4 points and 9.1 rebounds.

Jenni Torrance remains sidelined through injury, whilst Ella Doherty and Eva Morrison both miss out through illness and studies.

Head Coach Bart Sengers believes the game to be a big one for both teams:

“It’s a big game tomorrow. 11 vs 12 and a win would really help us get away from the bottom spot. Barking will have marked this game as well so I am expected 2 very motivated teams and it could be a fierce battle. We have had a great week of practice and be confident flying to London today. Of course as always we need to show what we can do when it really matters, during the game, but if we stick to our values on the court and play our way we will accept the result as we always do. I am looking forward to this one!”
