Caledonia Pride will hold the club’s first ever basketball camp in September as the team aims to grow engagement with the local community throughout the 2019/20 season.
Aimed at 8-14 year olds, the first camp will allow the players to practise their fundamental basketball skills alongside a number of Pride’s roster. Several players, and Pride’s coaching staff, will be on hand to deliver the sessions and support the young players, with a signing session afterwards for the participants to get selfies and autographs with the players.
The event will be ran in partnership with FIBA’s Her World Her Rules campaign, a unique project and social media campaign led by FIBA Europe. The campaign aims to promote women's and girls' basketball across Europe through various activities delivered in partnership with the National Federations. Each participant will receive a free Her World Her Rules t-shirt as well as two free tickets to Pride’s opening game of the season v Nottingham Wildcats.
Speaking after a successful FIBA U20 Europe with GB U20 Women, Pride’s Sian Phillips is looking forward to getting involved:
“As a team, we love getting into the community and playing our part in inspiring the next generation of female players. The team are all really excited to be involved with the club’s first camp and are looking forward to hosting more throughout the season. It will be a great day for the young players as they get to learn from our coaches and hopefully we’ll see them all coming to Pride games to cheer us on when the season starts!”
Tickets for the camp can be purchased here.
