Pride ready to drive young talent forward with Arnold Clark

September 07, 2018

As preparation for the 2018-19 WBBL season continues, Caledonia Pride are delighted to announce that Scottish-based motor company, Arnold Clark have once again teamed up with Scotland’s female professional basketball team to support the development of women’s basketball across the country. Arnold Clark will continue to be the driving force behind Caledonia Pride’s “team of the week initiative", inspiring young girls from across Scotland at Pride games.

Today's announcement comes as Pride welcome back a core of Scottish talent that represented Great Britain this summer with Hannah Robb, Shawnisay Millar and Pollyanna Storie returning to the programme.

Having spent the summer working on her game as part of Great Britain’s U20 team, Robb is looking forward to her third season with Pride and is hungry to get back out on court in the WBBL:

“Last year was a massive learning experience for me and it was so fun to be a part of Pride. The win over Sheffield in our first home game last year really sticks out as one of the best games I have been a part of and I am really excited to be back with such a great programme this season.

The set up that we have here in Scotland is brilliant and is really helping to bring young Scottish talent through the pathway. Working with Arnold Clark will allow us to reach more young girls across Scotland and expose them to top level basketball in Britain.”

Shawnisay Millar is also looking forward to her WBBL season with Pride after a summer of development as part of the GB U18 Women’s squad:

I have learnt a lot from being a part of the Pride programme and am really looking forward to the challenge of another WBBL campaign with the girls this year. We have learnt lots about what it takes to compete in the WBBL and we will be aiming to get better and learn throughout the whole season.”

Having made her Pride debut in the WBBL at just 15 years of age, Pollyanna Storie is excited to get back on court in the WBBL. Speaking on today’s announcement, the GB U16 Internationalist said:

Last year was a huge opportunity for me and I learnt so much from being in the programme – this year will be another fun challenge and I can’t wait for the season to start.”

Pride will take to the floor at the University of Edinburgh on Sunday 30th September where they will face the Newcastle Eagles in their season-opener. Ticket details will be released in the coming days, so be sure to keep an eye out on our channels over the coming days!
