Caledonia Pride sign Claire Paxton for 2017-18 Season

August 07, 2017

Ahead of the team’s second season in the WBBL, Caledonia Pride are pleased to announce the signing of Scottish Forward, Claire Paxton.

Paxton, who returns to Scotland after four years playing for the Colorado Christian University Cougars will be a versatile force for Pride who will be looking to build on the momentum gathered at the end of their 2016-17 season campaign.

Paxton originally played for Polonia Phoenix before accepting a scholarship to play for the Cougars. A solid contributor for the team, Paxton’s 4-year college career was highlighted by her final season where she was the team’s third leading scorer with 11.2 points a game and lead the team in blocked shots.

As well as playing for Scotland at U16, U18 and most recently for the senior women in their trip to Malaysia, Paxton also represented Great Britain as part of the U20’s side that played in the 2013 Youth European Championships.

Commenting on the signing, Paxton said the following about signing for Caledonia Pride:

"It was a great opportunity to come back to Scotland and be able to play at a high level. I'm excited for the upcoming season and adjusting to the different style of basketball, which I'm sure the WBBL will be."

Caledonia Pride get their season underway on Saturday 7th October against defending WBBL Champions, Nottingham Wildcats. You can join the Pride and get behind the team with our first ever Season Tickets HERE.
