Caledonia Pride are delighted to announce the addition of Maud Ranger for the 2020/21 WBBL season.
From Paris, France, Maud completed 4 years of college basketball in the USA at Westmont College, where she was a member of two Golden State Athletic Conference regular season championship teams and became the only player in programme history to win the GSAC Tournament all four years. The Warriors qualified for the national tournament in each of Ranger’s four seasons, including finishing as national runner-up in 2017-18 and earning the number 1 overall seed in 2019-20 for the first time in programme history before the tournament was cancelled due to Covid-19.
Maud’s senior season with the Westmont Warriors was a special one, as she earned NAIA Third Team All-American honours and was named to the All-GSAC Team, while becoming just the second Warrior ever to average a double-double (11.7 points per game, 10.0 rebounds per game). She also averaged 34.3 minutes per game, the most in a single season in Westmont Warriors’ history.
On joining Pride, Maud said “I am so excited to compete and invest in new relationships as a member of the Caledonia Pride team. More than anything, I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to integrate into a team that places such high emphasis on unity, work ethic, and growth on and off the court.
“Thanks to the coaches, I have a chance to learn from the Pride culture while sharing some of my experience from playing in the United States. In the midst of very difficult times throughout the world, I’m truly lucky to be welcomed and supported by a club such as the Pride!”
Pride head coach Bart Sengers is very happy with the arrival of Ranger, saying “Maud will be a perfect addition to our team. I have been impressed with her from the start and believe she will be able to help our team in many ways. She is a great teammate, a winner, very fit and mentally tough.
“I can see her being a leader and an example for our team, and she can play a big role in the culture change we are working on. Maud can play multiple positions for us and I am really looking forward to working with her on a daily basis.”
Maud will combine playing for Pride with studying a masters degree in Management at the University of Edinburgh.
