Recovery Continues For Young Talents

Pride are delighted to welcome back Luisa Velazquez and Jenni Torrance for the 21/22 season. Both have been working hard to recover from injuries, which limited them last season, and  with their rehabilitation ongoing, it is hoped that they will return to make an impact in the WBBL during the season.

Luisa started last season with a bang, averaging 11 points and 7.5 rebounds in just 2 games before an injury ended the 20/21 campaign for her. This season sees her return from surgery and we watch to see all the hunger, drive and winning mentality that the Spanish youngster brings to the game. Welcome back for your second season Luisa.

Reflecting  Luisa told us” Last season was tough as my injury took me out for most of it. I have recovered and I am very excited to be back with the team and look forward to being on court with the girls and seeing what we can accomplish together.”

Pride Head Coach Bart Sengers added “Luisa is a warrior and a winner. She has a lot of confidence and having her back fully healthy always provides us with a spark of energy. She needs a little more time to be fully back but we enjoy having her back in practices. She is an absolute basketball addict and we have to slow her down at times but once she is fully recovered I look forward to unleashing her for a full season.

16-year-old Jenni returns for her third season at Pride this after a long period of injury. The talented point guard has remained dedicated to the team and has continued to be an integral part of the group through 2 highly frustrating seasons for her. She has been working had on her recovery and we look forward to seeing her back on court.

Jenni added: “Last year was difficult due to Covid but also on a personal level as I was dealing with an injury. This year I am looking forward to getting back to training and back with the team.”

Coach Sengers added: “Jenni has shown real mental toughness during this time of being injured. Technically she is a very good and tactically she is also improving. This season is about getting her back to playing and being pain free after games and practices. I really hope for her that happens this season so we can finally see her progress into the league.”
