Caledonia Pride Pride – 39 : Natalie Bastian, 15 points.
Leicester Riders – 57 : Vitalija Vasciunaite, 15 points.
Caledonia Pride faced Leicester Riders on Saturday in the team’s second home game of the season. Having faced Leicester on the opening weekend of the WBBL season, the Scottish side were well aware of the challenge standing in their way.
Playing in front of another strong home support at Oriam, Pride started strong in the opening quarter with help from Tricia Oakes and Natalie Bastian. Leicester’s Mollie Campbell scored two points to give the visitors a 12-15 lead after 10 minutes of play.
Leicester started strong in the second quarter, putting together a 7-0 run as Pride Head Coach, Bart Sengers called time-out to try and kill the visitor’s momentum.
Pride continued to struggle in the second quarter, as Scottish guard Deanne Hayward caused problems. Hayward’s 10 second quarter points helped her Leicester side take a 22-36 half-time lead.
Caledonia Pride’s Natalie Bastian looked inspired following the half-time break, hitting the first 4 points of the 3rd quarter. The run was short-lived however as Leicester found their feet once more to extend their lead and heading in to the final stanza, Leicester held a commanding 28-45 lead.
Scotland and GB star, Erin McGarrachan got scoring underway in the 4th quarter for Leicester to give her side a 19-point lead. Pride showed no sign of letting up as they continued to battle at both ends of the floor, despite the scoreline. A back-and-forth quarter that ended 11-12 gave Leicester their 6th win of the season.

Caledonia Pride will return to Oriam in 2017 when they welcome Nottingham Wildcats to Oriam on January 7th.
